چکیده
We consider the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a focusing cubic term and defocusing quintic nonlinearity in dimensions two three. The main interest of this article is problem orbital (in-)stability ground state solitary waves. recall notions energy minimizing versus action states prove that, general, must be considered as nonequivalent. numerically investigate stability least radially symmetric case, confirming existing conjectures or leading to new ones.

Dynamical stabilization of solitons in cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger model.
We consider the existence of a dynamically stable soliton in the one-dimensional cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger model with strong cubic nonlinearity management for periodic and random modulations. We show that the predictions of the averaged cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation and modified variational approach for the arrest of collapse coincide. The analytical results are c...
متن کاملDrag force in bimodal cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation.
We consider a system of two cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equations in two dimensions, coupled by repulsive cubic terms. We analyze situations in which a probe lump of one of the modes is surrounded by a fluid of the other one and analyze their interaction. We find a realization of D'Alembert's paradox for small velocities and nontrivial drag forces for larger ones. We present numerical a...
متن کاملChirped Peregrine solitons in a class of cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equations.
We shed light on the fundamental form of the Peregrine soliton as well as on its frequency chirping property by virtue of a pertinent cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation. An exact generic Peregrine soliton solution is obtained via a simple gauge transformation, which unifies the recently-most-studied fundamental rogue-wave species. We discover that this type of Peregrine soliton, viabl...
متن کاملExistence, stability, and scattering of bright vortices in the cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation
We revisit the topic of the existence and azimuthal modulational stability of solitary vortices (alias vortex solitons) in the twodimensional (2D) cubic–quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We develop a semi-analytical approach, assuming that the vortex soliton is relatively narrow, which allows one to effectively split the full 2D equation into radial and azimuthal 1D equations. A variation...
متن کاملArtificial boundary conditions for one-dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations
This paper addresses the construction of nonlinear integro-differential artificial boundary conditions for one-dimensional nonlinear cubic Schrödinger equations. Several ways of designing such conditions are provided and a theoretical classification of their accuracy is given. Semi-discrete time schemes based on the method developed by Durán and Sanz-Serna [IMA J. Numer. Anal. 20 (2) (2000), pp...
